Sodium hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronan. It is a visco-elastic polymer normally found in the aqueous and vitreous humour. Sodium Hyaluronate occurs naturally on the corneal endothelium, bound to specific receptors. Sodium hyaluronate has a high affinity for the receptors. Sodium hyaluronate, also known as sodium hyaluronate, is a physiological active substance widely existing in human body. It is a kind of high molecular weight straight-chain mucopolysaccharide, which is made up of glucosuronic acid and acetamidohexose. A viscoelastic solution with physiological acidity and alkalinity and ionic strength is formed in water. Its molecular morphology can be changed, so the injection needle with a smaller size can also pass through. Sodium hyaluronate will not produce inflammatory substances extracted, known as Healon. When 10 mg of this product is dissolved in 1 ml saline, its viscosity can be 200,000 times higher than that of aqueous solution or saline. Healon's protein content is less than 0.5%, which is a sterile high purity solution.

Sodium hyaluronate is the main component of joint synovial fluid and a component of cartilage matrix. It plays a lubricating role in joint cavity. It can reduce the friction between tissues and play its elastic role. It can buffer the effect of stress on articular cartilage and play its due physiological function.
