Isoniazid (Laniazid, Nydrazid), also known as isonicotinylhydrazine (INH), is an organic compound that is the first-line antituberculosis medication in prevention and treatment. Isoniazid is never used on its own to treat active tuberculosis because resistance quickly develops. Isoniazid also has an antidepressant effect, and it was one of the first antidepressants discovered.
Isoniazid is available in tablet, syrup, and injectable forms (given intramuscularly or intravenously). Isoniazid is available worldwide, is inexpensive and is generally well tolerated. It is manufactured from isonicotinic acid, which is produced from 4-methylpyridine.
Take 1.0g Isoniazid and dissolve it with 10ml water. The solution should be clear and colorless. Appropriate amounts of isoniazid and hydrazine sulfate were dissolved and diluted with acetone - water (1:1) to make a mixed solution containing 100mg isoniazid and 0.08mg hydrazine sulfate in each 1ml, respectively, as the system applicability test solution. According to thin layer chromatography (TLC) 2 (2010 edition pharmacopoeia appendix Ⅴ B) test, from the above three kinds of solution 5 mu l, each point in the same silica G thin layer plate, with isopropyl alcohol, acetone (3:2) as developing agent, and dry, with ethanol injection system of dimethyl amino benzene formaldehyde test solution, after 15 minutes. The Rf value of free hydrazine and isoniazid should be about 0.75 and 0.56 respectively. Yellow spots should not be shown on the front of the main spot of test product solution and the corresponding position of the main spot of control product solution.
