Description:Erioglaucine disodium salt is a deep purple to bronze colored particle or powder with metallic luster. Odourless. Strong light and heat resistance. It is stable to citric acid, tartaric acid and alkali. Soluble in water (18.7g/100ml, 21℃), 0.05% neutral aqueous solution is clear blue. Weak acids are cyan in color, strong acids are yellow in color, and only purple when boiling and adding a base. Soluble in ethanol (1.5g/100ml, 95% ethanol solution, 21℃). Soluble in glycerol and propylene glycol. It can be matched with lemon yellow to make green pigment.
Erioglaucine disodium salt is formed by condensation of benzaldehyde o-sulfonate and a- (n-ethylphenyl amino) m-toluene sulfonic acid in acidic medium. The pigment is oxidized by sodium dichromate or lead dioxide and then refined by sodium sulfate salting out after neutralization. In production, condensation reaction generally needs dozens of hours, such as sulfuric acid plus urea as a shrinking agent, reaction time can be reduced by about 1/5 compared with only sulfuric acid for condensation.
Erioglaucine disodium salt, as a food and feed colorant, can be used in red and green silk with a maximum usage of 0.10g/kg. In juice (flavor) drinks, carbonated drinks, mixed wine, candy, pastries color pack, dyed cherry can (for decoration), green plum, shrimp (flavor) slice and ice cream, the maximum use amount is 0.025g/kg.
