Intended use:This immunoassay kit allows for the specific measurement of rat Collagen Type II concentrations in cell culture supernates, serum, and plasma.
Introduction:Heterologous type II collagen is widely used for inducing arthritis in susceptible animals.The serum antibodies in collagen-induced arthritic (CIA) mice are highly specific to the type II collagen used for immunization, however there is significant crossreactivity with other species of type II collagen including rat type II collagen.
Test principle:This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for Collagen Type II has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any Collagen Type II present is bound by the immobilized antibody. An enzyme-linked monoclonal antibody specific for Collagen Type II is added to the wells.The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
