Indole-3-butyric acid (1H-Indole-3-butanoic acid, IBA) is a white to light-yellow crystalline solid, with the molecular formula C12H13NO2. It melts at 125 °C in atmospheric pressure and decomposes before boiling.
3-indolebutyric acid is a white crystalline solid, while white to light yellow crystals are used as active ingredients. Soluble in acetone, ether and ethanol and other organic solvents, difficult to dissolve in water. Mainly used for cuttings rooting, can induce the formation of root protoplasm, promote cell differentiation and division, facilitate the generation of new roots and the differentiation of vascular bundle system, and promote the formation of adventitious roots of cuttings.
3-indolebutyric acid is widely used in cutting and rooting of trees and flowers: apple, peach, pear, citrus, grape, kiwi, strawberry, poinsettia, carnations, chrysanthemum, rose, magnolia, cuckoo, tea, metasequoia, poplar, etc.
Appropriate 3-indolebutyric acid (or IBA mixed and dissolved with appropriate ethanol) is included with effective ingredients of growth regulator of 1000-5000mg /L, and then talc powder or clay is soaked in alcohol, and then alcohol volatilizes to get powder, with drug amount of 0.1-0.3%. When used, first moisten the base of the cuttings, and then dip in powder or spray powder. The base of the cuttings should be soaked with water before being dipped in powder, and then shake off the excess powder.
