Description:
Tween 80 is an amber oily liquid with a relative density of 1.00±0.05, viscosity of 0.40 ~ 0.60 Pa·s (25℃), flash point of 288℃, HLB value of 10.0. Soluble in mineral oil, corn oil, dioxidehexacyclic, fibrinolytic, methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate, aniline and toluene, petroleum ether, cottonseed oil, acetone, carbon tetrachloride. It is also dissolved in 5% of the tried sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium sulfate and aluminum chloride, and is dispersed in water, ether and ethylene glycol.
Tween 80 is widely used in oil mining and transportation, medicine, cosmetics, paint pigments, textiles, food, pesticides. It is used as emulsifier, dispersant, stabilizer, diffuser, lubricant, softener, antistatic agent, anti-rust agent, finishing agent, viscosity reducing agent and so on in the production of detergent and the anti-rust cleaning of metal surface.
Tween 80 surfactant is stable to electrolyte, weak acid and weak base; In the case of strong acid and alkali will gradually saponify; The oleate is easy to oxidize and will produce peroxides if stored for a long time. Peroxide, heavy metal ions, temperature rise, light irradiation, self-oxidation of aqueous solution is accelerated, polyoxyethylene chain is broken, and fatty acid is generated by hydrolysis at the same time. The Tween 80 aqueous solution is fairly stable at a pH value of 3 ~ 7.6, with the lowest hydrolysis rate. Tween 80 should be stored in a sealed container, dark, cool and dry.
