Description:Ampicillin sodium is a white or white-like powder or crystal. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in ether. With hygroscopicity, aqueous solution gradually turns yellow at room temperature, produces turbidity, and the titer decreases gradually. No smell, slightly bitter taste.
Ampicillin sodium is a broad-spectrum penicillin, with a wider antimicrobial spectrum than penicillin, and also has antibacterial activity against some gram-negative bacteria (e.g., haemophilus influenzae, escherichia coli, proteus strangis). The effect on gram-positive cocci was similar to that of penicillin. It can also be deactivated by hydrolysis of penicillinase produced by bacteria. It is suitable for treating respiratory tract infection, urinary tract infection, gastrointestinal tract infection, skin and soft tissue infection, meningitis, septicemia, endocarditis caused by sensitive bacteria. Ampicillin sodium is the preferred drug for enterococcal infections.
Ampicillin sodium was obtained from Ampicillin as a salt: Ampicillin was suspended in water, adjusted to a pH of 9 with a sodium hydroxide solution, dissolved, and filtered. Add the filtrate to the activated carbon to decolorize, filter and dry the filtrate at low temperatures to obtain Ampicillin sodium.
Use:For the treatment of grain-positive cocci, colon bacillus and Proteus etc.
Storage:In ventilate,cool and dry places.
