Specification:25g
Aluminon is yellowish brown or dark red powder. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in ether, acetone and chloroform.
In 20ml concentrated sulfuric acid, 10g (0.145mol) of solid sodium nitrite was added in stages, and the rate of addition was controlled to release only a small amount of nitric oxide. When the solution was complete, 20g (0.145mol) salicylic acid was added in batches while stirring, and the whole process lasted about 15 minutes. The mixture is then stirred at 20 ° c until all solids have dissolved and the viscous liquid is bright red to brown. The liquid was put into the ice bath and the temperature was lowered to 0℃. While stirring, 5ml (0.065mol) 35-40% formaldehyde solution was added slowly and the reaction temperature should not exceed 5℃. After the reaction was complete, 100g crushed ice and 500ml ice water were added and stirred until solid pieces were formed. Filter, wash with ice water several times, drain, then dissolve in 1:2 (volume ratio) ammonia water, filter paper filtration. The filtrate is evaporated in a steam bath. About 19.22g Aluminon was obtained.
