The 4-chlorophenoxyacid is white crystals. Melting point of 157-159 ℃. Soluble in ethanol, acetone and benzene, slightly soluble in water. It has a nice smell. Plant growth hormone, used as growth regulator, fruit control agent, herbicide, can be used in tomatoes, vegetables, peach trees, etc., also used as medical intermediates.

The 4-chlorophenoxyacid can also be used as plant growth hormones, growth regulators, fruit-dropping inhibitors, herbicides and pharmaceutical intermediates.

Production method of 4-chlorophenoxyacid: obtained from condensation of phenol with chloroacetic acid and chlorination. 1. Condensation: the melted phenol is mixed with 15% sodium hydroxide solution, and the solution of chloroacetic acid and sodium carbonate is neutralized. The two are put into the reaction pot for mixing, and the reflux is heated for 4h. After the reaction, add hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH to 2-3, stir and cool, crystallize, filter, wash with ice water, dry, get phenoxyacetic acid. 2 chlorination will phenoxyacetic acid and glacial acetic acid mixed stir dissolve, add iodine tablets, at 26-34℃ chlorination. Chlorination should be left overnight. Crystallization should be carried out in cold water the next day, filtered and washed with water until neutral. Then the 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid should be obtained by drying.
