Description:3-((3-cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonium)-1-propanesulfonate is a non-transsexual amphoteric detergent of membrane biochemistry. Can be used to dissolve membrane proteins and break up protein-protein interactions. CHAPS, with its low micellar molecular weight (6,150) and high critical micelle concentration (6-10 mm), can be removed from the sample by dialysis. It is also suitable for dissolving proteins in isoelectric focusing and two-dimensional electrophoresis. CHAPS, often used in non-denature-free (urea free) isoelectric focusing, has been found to yield superior resolution to certain subcellular preparations and plant proteins. A concentration between 2 and 4%(w/v) is usually used for isoelectric focusing gels.
3-((3-cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonium)-1-propanesulfonate is a non-denatative amphoteric detergent of membrane biochemistry, which can be used to dissolve membrane protein and interrupt protein-protein interaction. It is also suitable for dissolving proteins in isoelectric focusing and two-dimensional electrophoresis. It is often used for non-denaturing (no urea) isoelectric focusing. RNA and DNA were extracted without RNA enzyme and DNA enzyme activity.
